Illness and infection

If your child becomes sick while they are in our care, or has a temperature of 38 degrees or higher, we will contact you and ask you to collect them as soon as possible. If your child is considered to be in urgent need of medical attention, we will call an ambulance and immediately notify you or your nominated emergency contact person.

To minimise the risk of infection, children will be excluded until they are no longer infectious or deemed well enough to return. Children may return to childcare 24 hours after they have ceased vomiting and diarrhoea, their high temperature has returned to normal and they have commenced antibiotics (if prescribed).

If you are unsure if your child is well enough to return, please consult with your doctor and note that some illnesses require a medical clearance before your child can return. If your child has a contagious illness, you must contact us to discuss when they can return. If your child is sent home for a second time they will require a medical clearance before they can return.
